What is a Learning Improvement Plan?
The Learning Improvement Plan (LIP) is a school-level planning document that follows a format similar to that of the division Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP). The LIP is an important component of the Continuous Improvement Framework and has been designed as a support for schools in their strategic improvement planning. The goals in the LIP should align with the division CIP and provincial priorities.
In Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division, the Learning Improvement Plans contain six key components:
- School Mission Statement
- School Vision Statement
- Demographics – School Enrolments and Configurations, Student and School Demographics
- Governance Structure – School Community Council, First Nations and Métis Organizations, Communication Plan
- Programs and Services – Overview of Curricular Courses and Programs, Our Caring and Respectful School Environment, Use of Instructional Technology, Student Leadership Opportunities, Out-of-School Educational Experiences, Extra-Curricular Programs, Supports for Learning, Staff Learning Initiatives
- School SMART Goal(s) – Goal(s), Indicators, Strategies, and Actions. This is perhaps the most important component of the school Learning Improvement Plan as it outlines the strategic school efforts towards improved learning outcomes and results for students.
