On Tuesday, January 28th, Christopher Lake students in Grades 5-8 traveled to Little Red River School for a few hours in the morning for a fantastic educational and community/relationship-building experience. While there, CLPS students, with grade-alike Little Red River students, listened to a tipi teaching from an elder and circulated through different stations taught by elders: bannock baking with a stick over flame, beading, traditional storytelling, and animal preparation and trapping. Our time together with the students, staff, and elders of Little Red River School concluded with a Round Dance and a meal together of stew and bannock. CLPS will host Little Red River School in the spring when they “come over for a visit”.
