Reference and Regulation Training Workshop

Throughout the day we will explore how to build the skills of social referencing and regulation in our autistic students using information obtained from Reference and Regulate programming (R&R) developed by Loyst and associates. Information will cover topics surrounding attachment, regulation, and joint attention. We will explore the scope and sequence of moving students through this programming and how to engage students in impactful play while naturally reinforcing the skill of social referencing.

Learning Intentions:

Participants will establish a deeper understanding of how to increase referencing and social cognition in autistic students through the development of visual referencing, point following, and gaze following activities. They will understand that social referencing is pivotal and is a prerequisite for language development and self-regulation. Participants will leave with general knowledge of how to carry-out R&R programming in their schools.
