Overview:

We are excited to invite you to the Land-Based Indigenous Rights and Environmental Equity PD, which will take place over two professional development sessions on February 3rd and April 14th. During these sessions, we will co-create a unit. By participating in this PD, you will be expected to teach the land-based unit that we develop together.

What to Expect:

  • Grade Level: The co-created unit will be designed for Grade 8 or Environmental Science 20.

Topics Covered:

    • Treaties
    • Indigenous governance
    • Environmental stewardship and equity
    • Current examples of environmental threats, such as the harvesting of peat moss in La Ronge.

Key Features:

  • The unit will include:
    • Shared resources
    • Experiential play based learning (EPBL)
    • Land-based learning opportunities
  • You will be expected to teach the unit between the offering of the two PD sessions, following the prescribed timeline. The unit will start in April.

PD Sessions:

  1. First Session(February 3rd):
    • Introduction to the unit’s structure and key components.
    • Time to begin planning.
  2. Second Session (April 14th):
    • Continue collaborative planning and finalize the unit.

By attending this PD, you agree to follow and teach the unit as outlined in the timeline we create. We look forward to co-creating and collaborating with you!
