On behalf of my fellow trustees, I want to express our sincere sympathy to the Thunderchild family at this sad time.
Over the years, we had the pleasure of meeting Victor during school visits and in a variety of professional and social settings. He always impressed us as a dedicated teacher and as an advocate for cultural awareness He also played a key role in our initiative to open a Cree language program at John Diefenbaker Public School. In addition to his academic role and athletic coaching positions with so many students at Carlton, he also made major contributions to the North Central Athletic Association and was an organizer of many Indigenous cultural events. Family and a sense of community were always important to him.
Those of us in the Saskatchewan Rivers family all mourn his passing.
