November 14-20, 2022 is Local Government Week in Saskatchewan, a week to raise awareness and engagement in local democracy. Individuals are elected to the School Boards to govern K-12 education in school divisions. They listen to requests from their community and make decisions that form the education for Saskatchewan students.
Local Government Week is a partnership between the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, Métis Nation – Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association, the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities, and the Saskatchewan School Boards Association. The partner organizations have been working with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) Learning Centre, and a committee of teachers, to develop local government resources that support curriculum outcomes related to democracy, community, and citizenship. The resource package is titled Who Governs Us – Who Governs the Land? To see more on this, please visit https://saskschoolboards.ca/advocacy/local-government-week/.
Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division wishes to acknowledge our Board for the contribution they make on behalf of our communities, staff and students. We are grateful for the excellent work they do for us.
