🔴 Stand in solidarity! 🔴
📢 May 5th is a day of awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit (MMIWG2S). Let’s shed light on the alarming reality:
👉 More than 280 cases of murdered Indigenous women have been reported, but this number is always in flux and more than likely has increased.
👉 Shockingly, 98 of these cases have an “unknown status.”
These statistics are not just numbers; they represent the lives and stories of our sisters, mothers, daughters, and friends who have been taken from us too soon.
It’s time to raise our voices, demand justice, and honor the memory of those we’ve lost. Together, we can create awareness, advocate for change, and work towards a future where every Indigenous woman, girl, and Two-Spirit individual can live without fear.
School communities throughout SRPSD are raising awareness through classroom projects, school wide initiatives, and their social media pages. Today everyone is encouraged to educate yourself and others and hold space for the families, communities, and victims.
