Aardvarks dig mounds and burrow into the ground, or in Shellbrook’s case – the snow! During Education Week, we connected in new ways outside in our own cohorts building snow forts and sculptures as part of what turned into a large community snow playground! The collaborative team effort of the individual classrooms was amazing. Our grade 7’s created a huge open heart shaped fort that had walls taller than any of them! The grade 9’s made a volcano and an entire village complete with benches and a slide. Our grade 6 slide from the top of their picnic table based fort was super fun, but in the end, Grade 8’s won the student’s choice award with stairs and slides. You think grade 12’s are too old to play in the snow? Nope – their snowperson was taller than any we’ve seen and their slide was huge!
Next week WP Sandin will continue to connect in new ways by writing letters of encouragement and appreciation to seniors living in care homes and to our front line healthcare workers to help spread some joy this holiday season!
